INSECURITY TIES

Every single life on this planet is filled with insecurities.

As for us people, the moment we feel insecure about something, we ‘chose’ to try and escape from it. We pack that part of ourselves in a little box, tie a knot on it with all our might, and put it in a dark corner. Not even taking a moment to put a label on it. Thus, assuring ourselves that the knot will never come lose and that ‘things’ will never fall from it. To top it up we mask up whatever is left of us in interesting variations of happy, sad, funny, and damaged-beyond-repair.

But, only if it was ever so easy! As these tiny dark parts of us do manage to escape, and confront us. Yet again we manage put them away in dark corners, over and over again.

All this only to realise one day that a large part of us is packed up in little nameless boxes tossed in dark corners and what is left is so small that it can no longer be recognised by the name it once went. In this darkness, amidst the pile of nameless boxes we feel absent and disorderly. Not knowing where we went, or where to start looking – and for what?

During such a time, what we forget is the simplicity of the state we are blessed with. All we have to do now is sit, breathe, and start untying the knots one by one. Confronting the parts of us we packed inside and accepting them – and setting them free.

Take a box at a time. Confront the weaker side of you. Embrace it. Then set it free from all the knots.

NOTIONS

It is true that notions bind us. They tend to hold us back tightly – reluctant to give up, no matter what stands ahead. They feel like a weight pulling us down, like an anchor.
Yet the unfortunate truth is: that everyone is bound by such notions, and it is even more unfortunate when those notions aren't ours.

We often fail to realize that we are bound by others’ notions, and sometimes we fail to see it, but most of the times we chose not to accept the fact that we are bound.
Bound - where we run around seeking opinions and approvals for actions we want to conduct - but from minds and hearts other than our own.

Yet, until the time that we chose not to realize, see, or accept this unfortunate fact – we are doing just fine! It is only when we do realize, see, or accept the fact that a part of our self wants to break free while the rest is still anchored down not yet ready to let the ship sail. It is then that we become this huge mass of energy – contained within an extensively tough shell. There is a want to break free as well as an urge to settle down.

But, life is not ‘settling down’ is it?

So, in times when you feel like venturing into the sea - just go ahead.
They may tell you it’s not wise.
They may tell you its dark and stormy.
They may tell you that home is where you should be.

Stop for a second and give it a thought, and yet if your heart tells you to go ahead, then just go ahead.
Follow your heart and mind – and let your ship sail.

All you need to do is gather courage and believe in it!

THE FLIGHT

Have you ever found yourself wishing that you had wings?

The pair of wings which would help you fly the sky, and help you soar through the clouds, or just the kind of wings which you can only hope would help you escape.

If you have ever wished for such a pair of wings, then have you ever imagined a flight?

The flight where you would take off from just anywhere and find yourself up in the blue sky, the cold wind caressing your face and brushing through your hair. The kind of flight where you could touch whatever lies beyond the clouds and see beyond the blue of the sky, or a the kind of flight which is just for freedom.

Have you ever had a flight of the mind?

If you have wished and imagined your flight, you will have known that the flight of the wings is a controlled flight where your wings may tire or the sky might end!
But, the flight of the mind is a true flight with no wings to tire and no feathers to shed, just like there is no limit to the sky and you may fly as high as you like.

So, wish - imagine - and FLY!

TEARS OF GOLD : SMILES OF LIGHT

There is a girl who fears to walk,
And sits in her spot all day long.

She is also the girl who when cries tears of gold,
Grows wings and flies like a bird.

But she is the girl who is the happiest of all,
Who tears only when she fears to walk.

She is the girl who when flies across the town,
Barely sees anything with tears of gold that flood her eyes.

But the tears are gold,
All of them she showers on the town.

On palaces of marble and huts of straw,
Of happy people when she fears to walk.

One day on a flight like this,
A tear lands on a little boy near a hut.

Who picks it up and looks above,
To witness the sight at once.

Not the wings,
No not the gold.

But, the tears,
And the pretty face they were on.

He throws away the tear that was gold,
And sets her free just like a bird.

He sees a light,
And no, it was not gold.

It was a smile,

On the girl who just touched the ground.

WHILES

Let us enjoy
the
whiles that we have.

While,

The whiles that pester us
become the
whiles the we once had.

APPRECIATION

Appreciation is a response of great importance – with great powers.

It is a response which involves both, our brain as well heart. This starts with the involuntary act of the heart on recognizing the existence of beauty and feeling a rush of certain emotions: a sense of happiness, enthusiasm, love, gratitude, warmth, liberty, and more. It is the kind of feeling where one wants to exclaim the joy felt inside.

Though most times, while our heart is indulged in the beauty, the brain peeps in its little nose asking “Appreciating, huh?”
This is when the brain takes over slowly, followed by inspection, analysis, scrutiny, rationalization, and eventually criticism. Everything but what was heartfelt.

The important thing here is to realize why does our heart decide to give in to reasons and rationalization? And even more important is to know why do we let it give in? Was our heart ... afraid, jealous, and negative, pumped with ego, or was it just too proud to admit what it felt?

Every heart has a story - a different reason.
Because ...
Everyone is in a different maze - and everyone is trapped.

Though it is only when we decide to take a step ahead and search that we decide to liberate: from the fear, jealousy, pride, and negativity- and it is only when we let our hearts speak that we can liberate.

So, let us let our heart speak.
Let us learn to appreciate: the beauty around, and therefore the beauty inside!

BREAKING BARRIERS

Somehow the human mind tends to function around boundaries - it eats, sleeps, and lives boundaries. As I see, without the existence of boundaries – there would be no existence of a sense of freedom. It is only the barrier which makes us think and dream of - what lies beyond?

What lies beyond the wall and beneath the water; beyond the seas and above the skies; beyond the beliefs and behind the lies-the truths, inside our thoughts, behind our actions, and besides our needs?
The barriers are the thin lines between who we might have been – who we are – who we could be! It defines us in the most variable way. And what defines us more are the barriers we think, mean, and dare to break.

To break – we must see!
They are the more distant barriers that we see without a question – the narrow minded people, our corrupted nation, increasing population, poverty, grief and so on. No doubt many brave hearts set a sail to break those barriers – to nations far off and to people next door – thinking (hoping too!) that they would someday change the face of this earth.

This is a question to the brave sailors and all of us out there – When is it that you can truly break those barriers on your route to freedom? Start by breaking the little barriers in ourselves – in our soul, mind, and vision.

Dare to look beyond. Dare to break. Dare to change!
