LOSS

Loss of any and every kind becomes a huge part of our lives. There is no heart that is left untouched by the idea, or occurrence of loss. Consider what you may: time, possession, a person; or a thought, moment, or love that is lost. Surely, there is something so far that each one of us has lost- something that we once held dear to us, something that was loved.

Loss leaves us with a hollow space right in the middle of our universe. It leaves us feeling like amateurs at this strangeness called ‘life.’ As and how the circumstances may choose to favor, it leaves us with a scar that changes every perspective. It changes our world, life, and us. We are left with everything a mess. It is the kind of mess that we have to deal with without having any idea of where to start, yet the sooner it is dealt with- the better. The way one deals with it depends on the rawest nature of what you have caged inside of you. You shall either rise, or you shall stay low.

It is a difficult task- to change what makes your core, but it is not impossible. Consider the insecurity and negativity in your core to be a stone. A stone that brings and holds you down, and tells you that you are left alone after this loss- that you have nowhere else left to go than bury yourself in the darkness of silent moments. Although, remember to also consider that with the right spirit and kind helping hands, there is no stone that can be left unturned. It is all a matter of faith.

So have faith- in you first, and then in the energy that surrounds you. It is this energy that gives you the power to endure and overcome the loss, and to sustain yourself through this process.

THE LINE

All people are artists.

We are all artists – we like to carve, fill, paint, and spray. Most of all we like to draw. We like to draw interests, reactions, attentions, and we like to draw lines. What is more, we do so in every situation.

From all the things we draw, attention is a bit easier task. It is so because of the passion and need encased within us. We are driven by an energy rising with the heart beats. It is not that difficult a task to dance to the rhythm of the heart, especially when we are zealous and adore the thing we are after!

We see ourselves happily dancing to this lub dub song. So intensely that we keep overlooking every bump and puddle on the way, maneuvering our way smoothly around the pot holes (closely but yet, smoothly). Every morning feels like a fresh poem open to all interpretations. However, there does eventually come a day when we fall short of interpretations, excuses, and reasoning. It is then that our dancing feet begin to stand still- asking for a reason. A reason to why they were dancing? And even more a reason to why they were dancing in the heat, in the rain, around the bumps, and into puddles? Even so, the only reply we have is the lub and the dub.

Although, it is not when our feet stand still to ask questions, but when they start doing so quite often that we may decide that it is time to draw again. This time it shall be a line. It will be the line that is the victim, the criminal, and judge of all. It is the line that then starts deciding which puddles we may dance through, which bumps we shall pause at, and where on the roads we will stop altogether - for once or for all?
Drawing lines is a difficult task. It is at this line where two contradictory forces within us- the heart and the mind are made to shake hands like gentlemen.  Yet, lines turn out to be like several boons in disguise which stand in front of us holding hands.

Though, what is more difficult is to decide ‘when’ to draw the line rather than ‘where’ to draw it.

When we are unhappy dancing?
Or,
When we are tired of dancing in the puddles?

COURAGE (THE COWARD?)

Courage is a strange thing.

You may chose to disagree at once, and why not! - Because courage and strength are anything but strange. They reflect positivity, strength, victory, a sense of satisfaction from trying. They keep you going. It is only when you come face to face with some situations that you may realize that courage is strange.

One lives through different moods of life- of happiness, sadness, struggle, fear, success, and many more, and in this journey not only does he live but also fights, fails, and conquers himself. He shows strength in the toughest of times thinking that he is winning all these battles – and in turn saving all his strength to fight the tougher battles coming his way.

Though, what he does not know is that there may rise a day when the battle may be tougher than he thought; and he may have to watch his armour of strength shatter into pieces and fall off, revealing his soft self, and there would be nothing he can do but watch his courage walk off like a coward.

The only thing that he can do in these weakest moments of his life- is let his courage walk away gracefully, embrace his soft self, and prepare it for the battles to come.

RESIDUES

There are some things in our life which I like to call ‘residues’.

They are the substances which remain after a reaction. They are the molecules which lie there still, calm, and unstirred after a rigorous something – an action or a reaction, waiting to be used again, or simply to be washed down the drain.

But, just as we have a nag of complicating every situation that approaches us, we do not wish to spare these residues in our life too.

These residues are not only the remains of things that have already been – a half used notebook, a coffee stain, a sink full of unwashed dishes, an unmade bed, a vase of wilted flowers – but they also remind us of things that could have been.
They are stories of a life honestly lived - stories simply waiting for an end. An end which we fear to write, and so we twist and turn them - wishing and wanting for a day when they will longer demand an end.
A day when the residues will become the elements of life!

But do they ever - come alive?

THIS : THAT

There are times, when we are at a standstill even while we are moving along. Times when happiness, excitement and fear all exist in that one moment of thought. The moment of thought, which is like air waiting to become the wind - determined to blow in a particular direction.

Below are a few lines, dedicated to that one and many moments of thought. Lines to help us hang in there for a little while longer - lines to stir us a little while we wait.

If dark is the place to be:
for tears,
Let it be for smiles as well.

If void is the space to be:
with fears,
Let it be with tries as well.

If still is the way to be:
for dreams,
Let it be for fears as well.

If alone is the state to be:
for you,
Let there be space for strengths as well.

GETTING OVER

What is it that we need to help us let go or ‘get over’ a situation?
Is it …
  •        Lots of music
  •        Some time alone
  •        Sleep
  •        Maybe a little swearing
  •        Exercise – just a rush of endorphin
  •        A vent
  •        Someone to coax us
  •        Pep talks
  •      Loads and loads of thinking

… and many more things: we all have our personal and highly customized list of these things which  form the vital ingredients to help us through the process of ‘getting over'.

But, what is the recipe?
All of us have walked this course, but who knows of the recipe?

It just so happens that while we are busy mixing and churning the ingredients to get the perfect mix, the recipe just takes place and we do not know when or how?

Maybe it was that moment of realization, or maybe we just got tired of mixing! Though, whatever it was we are just relieved that the churning stopped after all! The relief simply outweighs the process such that we wish not to look back.

It’s just us – the stillness – and the relief!
