LOSS

Loss of any and every kind becomes a huge part of our lives. There is no heart that is left untouched by the idea, or occurrence of loss. Consider what you may: time, possession, a person; or a thought, moment, or love that is lost. Surely, there is something so far that each one of us has lost- something that we once held dear to us, something that was loved.

Loss leaves us with a hollow space right in the middle of our universe. It leaves us feeling like amateurs at this strangeness called ‘life.’ As and how the circumstances may choose to favor, it leaves us with a scar that changes every perspective. It changes our world, life, and us. We are left with everything a mess. It is the kind of mess that we have to deal with without having any idea of where to start, yet the sooner it is dealt with- the better. The way one deals with it depends on the rawest nature of what you have caged inside of you. You shall either rise, or you shall stay low.

It is a difficult task- to change what makes your core, but it is not impossible. Consider the insecurity and negativity in your core to be a stone. A stone that brings and holds you down, and tells you that you are left alone after this loss- that you have nowhere else left to go than bury yourself in the darkness of silent moments. Although, remember to also consider that with the right spirit and kind helping hands, there is no stone that can be left unturned. It is all a matter of faith.

So have faith- in you first, and then in the energy that surrounds you. It is this energy that gives you the power to endure and overcome the loss, and to sustain yourself through this process.

THE LINE

All people are artists.

We are all artists – we like to carve, fill, paint, and spray. Most of all we like to draw. We like to draw interests, reactions, attentions, and we like to draw lines. What is more, we do so in every situation.

From all the things we draw, attention is a bit easier task. It is so because of the passion and need encased within us. We are driven by an energy rising with the heart beats. It is not that difficult a task to dance to the rhythm of the heart, especially when we are zealous and adore the thing we are after!

We see ourselves happily dancing to this lub dub song. So intensely that we keep overlooking every bump and puddle on the way, maneuvering our way smoothly around the pot holes (closely but yet, smoothly). Every morning feels like a fresh poem open to all interpretations. However, there does eventually come a day when we fall short of interpretations, excuses, and reasoning. It is then that our dancing feet begin to stand still- asking for a reason. A reason to why they were dancing? And even more a reason to why they were dancing in the heat, in the rain, around the bumps, and into puddles? Even so, the only reply we have is the lub and the dub.

Although, it is not when our feet stand still to ask questions, but when they start doing so quite often that we may decide that it is time to draw again. This time it shall be a line. It will be the line that is the victim, the criminal, and judge of all. It is the line that then starts deciding which puddles we may dance through, which bumps we shall pause at, and where on the roads we will stop altogether - for once or for all?
Drawing lines is a difficult task. It is at this line where two contradictory forces within us- the heart and the mind are made to shake hands like gentlemen.  Yet, lines turn out to be like several boons in disguise which stand in front of us holding hands.

Though, what is more difficult is to decide ‘when’ to draw the line rather than ‘where’ to draw it.

When we are unhappy dancing?
Or,
When we are tired of dancing in the puddles?

INSECURITY TIES

Every single life on this planet is filled with insecurities.

As for us people, the moment we feel insecure about something, we ‘chose’ to try and escape from it. We pack that part of ourselves in a little box, tie a knot on it with all our might, and put it in a dark corner. Not even taking a moment to put a label on it. Thus, assuring ourselves that the knot will never come lose and that ‘things’ will never fall from it. To top it up we mask up whatever is left of us in interesting variations of happy, sad, funny, and damaged-beyond-repair.

But, only if it was ever so easy! As these tiny dark parts of us do manage to escape, and confront us. Yet again we manage put them away in dark corners, over and over again.

All this only to realise one day that a large part of us is packed up in little nameless boxes tossed in dark corners and what is left is so small that it can no longer be recognised by the name it once went. In this darkness, amidst the pile of nameless boxes we feel absent and disorderly. Not knowing where we went, or where to start looking – and for what?

During such a time, what we forget is the simplicity of the state we are blessed with. All we have to do now is sit, breathe, and start untying the knots one by one. Confronting the parts of us we packed inside and accepting them – and setting them free.

Take a box at a time. Confront the weaker side of you. Embrace it. Then set it free from all the knots.

NOTIONS

It is true that notions bind us. They tend to hold us back tightly – reluctant to give up, no matter what stands ahead. They feel like a weight pulling us down, like an anchor.
Yet the unfortunate truth is: that everyone is bound by such notions, and it is even more unfortunate when those notions aren't ours.

We often fail to realize that we are bound by others’ notions, and sometimes we fail to see it, but most of the times we chose not to accept the fact that we are bound.
Bound - where we run around seeking opinions and approvals for actions we want to conduct - but from minds and hearts other than our own.

Yet, until the time that we chose not to realize, see, or accept this unfortunate fact – we are doing just fine! It is only when we do realize, see, or accept the fact that a part of our self wants to break free while the rest is still anchored down not yet ready to let the ship sail. It is then that we become this huge mass of energy – contained within an extensively tough shell. There is a want to break free as well as an urge to settle down.

But, life is not ‘settling down’ is it?

So, in times when you feel like venturing into the sea - just go ahead.
They may tell you it’s not wise.
They may tell you its dark and stormy.
They may tell you that home is where you should be.

Stop for a second and give it a thought, and yet if your heart tells you to go ahead, then just go ahead.
Follow your heart and mind – and let your ship sail.

All you need to do is gather courage and believe in it!

THE FLIGHT

Have you ever found yourself wishing that you had wings?

The pair of wings which would help you fly the sky, and help you soar through the clouds, or just the kind of wings which you can only hope would help you escape.

If you have ever wished for such a pair of wings, then have you ever imagined a flight?

The flight where you would take off from just anywhere and find yourself up in the blue sky, the cold wind caressing your face and brushing through your hair. The kind of flight where you could touch whatever lies beyond the clouds and see beyond the blue of the sky, or a the kind of flight which is just for freedom.

Have you ever had a flight of the mind?

If you have wished and imagined your flight, you will have known that the flight of the wings is a controlled flight where your wings may tire or the sky might end!
But, the flight of the mind is a true flight with no wings to tire and no feathers to shed, just like there is no limit to the sky and you may fly as high as you like.

So, wish - imagine - and FLY!

ONE LIFE AND MANY WORLDS

When we look upon our life as ‘one life’ among others, we may be able to see that our ‘one life’ lives in a ‘one world’ of its own. The world around us can be seen as a unique intersection of various such ‘one worlds’. Each life thus being a unique combination, which gives us various opportunities to cross paths with other lives around. Paths in which we meet, mingle, love, and part ways with them.

When such paths cross each other and two worlds decide to move along together, the journey feels different, happy, and joyful. The worlds mingle like fragrance in the air-indistinguishable and inseparable.

Yet, there may come a day when road splits into two: one through the woods and the other through the waters. It may also happen that the worlds may part leaving either the air or the fragrance. In times like these when your life may want to wait right there where the roads split, remember one thing that whether you chose to walk or swim there are many more lives waiting for you with their worlds and many new fragrances.

So, walk along and swim the waters with your 'one life' towards their 'many worlds'.

THIS : THAT

There are times, when we are at a standstill even while we are moving along. Times when happiness, excitement and fear all exist in that one moment of thought. The moment of thought, which is like air waiting to become the wind - determined to blow in a particular direction.

Below are a few lines, dedicated to that one and many moments of thought. Lines to help us hang in there for a little while longer - lines to stir us a little while we wait.

If dark is the place to be:
for tears,
Let it be for smiles as well.

If void is the space to be:
with fears,
Let it be with tries as well.

If still is the way to be:
for dreams,
Let it be for fears as well.

If alone is the state to be:
for you,
Let there be space for strengths as well.

WHILES

Let us enjoy
the
whiles that we have.

While,

The whiles that pester us
become the
whiles the we once had.

MIRRORS

We all have mirrors we like to turn towards now and then - in times of fear, indecisiveness, distress, guilt, and joy. We like to stare into the mirror and look at the reflections staring back at us -  of empathy, and, sympathy.

These mirrors are people – ‘our people’. The ones we turn towards at different times looking for answers and comfort.

Our choice of who we turn to changes with situations, because somewhere we know who will tell us what, and more than that we know exactly what we want to listen to. We know which mirror would reflect those parts of us that we wish to see.
If leave our comfort zone and chose them wisely, we get a different perspective towards the situation - and we grow. But, if we chose them to suit ourselves and our beliefs then we just get a pseudo pleasure of a false victory from thinking that we were correct all the way long.

Though a larger question here is not which mirror to chose … but what happens when we cannot find the correct (or desired) reflection in any of the mirrors?

What do we do then? Where do we go? Where do we look?

In situations like those the most effective thing could be … to stop looking for mirrors at all! We should look away, like we always should have. We should close our eyes and concentrate on the answers we already have – the answers that we believe in, true to the heart.

... And we should feel all the mirrors shattering around us into innumerable pieces, thrown into the universe far far away - and shining onto us like little stars, applauding for us.
